The Bajo Sayang Initiative was born out of the belief that every child deserves equal and proper education. At Oakwood STEAM Academy, we recognize that many children in remote and secluded islands lack access to quality schooling, and that’s where we step in. Through Bajo Sayang, we go beyond the traditional classroom, reaching out to children in underserved areas to ensure that no one is left behind.

Our Impact
Rolling Numbers :

Through Bajo Sayang, Oakwood has made significant contributions to the community, including:

  • Supporting 4,000+ Children: We have positively impacted the lives of over 4,000 children, ensuring they have the resources and opportunities to succeed.
  • Building 2 Free Schools: We established two schools—a preschool and an elementary school—that offer free, high-quality education to children who previously had little to no access to schooling.
  • Providing Thousands of School Supplies: From notebooks and pencils to textbooks and art materials, we've equipped thousands of children with the tools they need to learn and thrive.
  • Distributing Thousands of Shoes: Many children in the Labuan Bajo area walk long distances to attend school. We’ve provided thousands of pairs of shoes, ensuring that children can attend school comfortably and safely.
  • Upgrading School Facilities: We’ve upgraded school infrastructure, including classrooms, playgrounds, and learning tools, to create a conducive learning environment for all.
  • Providing Water Transportation: We’ve managed to upgrade a boat for the elementary kids to continue their education by crossing the islands.
  • Sponsoring Continued Education: For children who show great potential and need financial support, Oakwood has paid for their continued education, allowing them to move up to the next grade level without barriers.
Ongoing Commitment :

Bajo Sayang is not just a project—it’s a commitment. Oakwood STEAM Academy continues to:

  • Provide training for teachers in these schools to ensure the best educational practices are followed.
  • Raise funds to support the ongoing needs of the schools and their students.
  • Create opportunities for Oakwood students to be directly involved, teaching them the value of giving back and global citizenship.
